Artefact Reflection
These pictures show different bacteria and viruses that can reside in our body such as the flu, Ebola, ear aches and flesh-eating diseases. Each of these pictures show a different bacteria/ virus that are thousands of times larger than the real bacteria/virus in a plush form along with information about what they are and what they cause. This artefact is from the biodiversity unit when we talked about bacteria and viruses. These were brought in to show us some of the millions of viruses and bacteria that could reside in our body and what effects they have on us. It is significant to me because it helps me learn more about bacteria and viruses. Usually, we don’t know much about bacteria and viruses but this gives you a fun way to learn more. I wanted to know what they
were because of they looked interesting and when I read the information about them, I uncovered their harmful abilities. This is a good way for people to learn about bacteria in a fun way rather than sitting and reading about it. You can apply this knowledge in real life because these are real bacteria and viruses in our body that may cause some of these problems. You get better knowledge on what is happening and what bacteria or virus is affecting you. For example, if you have the flu, you know that the bacteria Gripe Influenza is affecting you and causing you to get the flu. You also know what symptoms you are going to get or have and you know what you can do to stop it. It can help you understand the unit better because biodiversity is mostly all about
different species that are present. There are many types of bacteria and viruses, and learning about how diverse they are helps discover their affect on us. Learning how these bacteria and viruses affect us can help us get a basic understanding of how they affect and enter out body and how we can get rid of them.
