Artefact Reflection
This picture shows the internal system of the pig we dissected. The picture shows the organs of pig and all three systems, the digestive system, the respiratory system and the cardiovascular system. All these organs play a vital role in helping us survive because they all connect to the other systems in our body. The three systems, the digestive system, the respiratory system and the cardiovascular system are all connected and if one system shuts down or stops working then the others will as well and we will die because each system depends on the other to work and to help our body. This picture is from the internal systems unit, and a fetal pig dissection we did in class in order to help us get a better understanding of how our three systems look and where our organs are located in the body. We had to cut open the pig and examine the organs, and then we cut out the organs and examined them. This is significant to me because I got a better understanding of how our body systems and organs look. Since a pig’s internal system is very similar to ours, it represents how our body looks internally. This was significant and I can apply this knowledge to real life because it was an amazing experience to be able to see how the inside of an animal looks like especially since the animal’s internal organs and structures we dissected are very similar to human. We were able to see how our internal body system and organs look but in a smaller size. From the dissection I learned where the organs are located in our body, how they are shaped and structured. Also, when dissecting you get a better understanding of how organs affect other organs and what their function is. Also, if one wants to become a surgeon, this is a great way to get hands-on experience and knowledge. You can familiarize yourself with how the organs look and where they are in your body. It can help you understand the unit better because the unit is about the organs, labelling them and about the three internal systems and so getting hands-on experience might help with being able to recognize the organs better. For some people getting hands-on experience may be better than reading notes because you can visualize the pig and it's organs.
